TOUR LOCATIONS:
CHARYN CANYON, CANYON "BESTAMAK", LAKE KOLSAI, LAKE KOLSAI, LAKE KAINDY, BLACK CANYON
This author's 3-day tour of the Almaty region was organized for guests from Belgium.
Tour locations:
Charyn Canyon, Lake Kolsay, Lake Kaindy, Black Canyon, Yellow Canyon (Bestomak). Accommodation in a guest house in the village of Satty. Overnight at a campsite in the canyon.
Organized meals, accommodation for the entire tour.
DAY 1
This wonderful trip was waiting for us and we wanted to go on our way.
Departure point Almaty airport - guests were met at the airport and we went on our exciting tour!
On the first day of our tour we visited Charyn Canyon, after moving to another canyon - not very well known to tourists and it was very good, as we could enjoy the views without crowds of tourists. Canyon "Bestomak" means 5 dishes. The territory of the canyon is large and has 5 gorges.
On the way we stopped in the village of Baiseit, at the local market and bought fruits. Local sellers are very friendly and they have bright clothes.
On the way to Bestam Canyon we stopped in Charyn Canyon, paid for the entrance at the border. We left the jeep in the parking lot and went on a hike. There was a 2-hour excursion, and we walked along the bottom of the canyon - 5 km. It was incredibly beautiful!
At the end of the canyon there was a fast river, the water in the river was cold, we were happy to rest a little after the walk and cool off by the river.
We looked at the yurt house, which is located in the Charyn eco-park. Unique design - the Kazakh yurt is easy to assemble and disassemble. It retains heat well, protects from the wind, and in the summer from the heat.
For my guests, I made coffee and organized a lunch of local products with fresh fruits.
After lunch, we went to the Bestosmak canyon,
This #Canyon is very large and wild, it is visited by a small number of tourists, and it's great!
We arrived at the canyon, set up camp and cooked a delicious dinner.
DAY 2
After breakfast we went to explore other canyons - not tourist places.
The weather during the day was different. In the morning in the Bestomak canyon or as the local shepherds call it "Yellow canyon" it was hot, about +30 degrees Celsius.
The Charyn River is one of the largest in the Almaty region. Its length is 427 km. Charyn originates in the highlands of the Ketmen ridge. In the upper reaches the river is called Shalkudylsu, in the middle reaches - Kegen. And only after the Moinak hydroelectric power station does Charyn flow directly.
We left this region - the desert and steppe zone
and went to the mountainous area, where coniferous forests grow, there are river spills and beautiful lakes.
Our stop is the Black Canyon. The canyon is up to 300 m deep and consists of black rock. At the bottom of the canyon there is a fast river. The day was exciting! We often stopped and took pictures.
In the mountainous area the air temperature was lower than in the steppe zone and it was comfortable +18 degrees Celsius.
It was raining, but it did not upset us, we enjoyed the beauty of the Tien Shan mountains.
During the day we saw the incredible landscape of the area and stopped in the village of Satty.
We stayed in a cozy guest house No. 1 "Temirhan", a local family cooked us a delicious hot meal. It was a wonderful end to the day....
DAY 3
Breakfast in a cozy guest house. We were treated to hot baked tradition bread "Baursaki", jam, omelet with vegetables - a real home-made breakfast.
Today we are going to Lake Kolsay and Lake Kaindy.
The first point is Lake Kolsay.
Kolsay Lakes (Kulsay) are a system of three lakes in the Northern Tien Shan, in the Kolsay Gorge, on the isthmus connecting the Kungey-Alatau and Zailiysky Alatau ridges. The lakes are located in the Raiymbek district of the Almaty region of Kazakhstan and are at an altitude of 1000 m, 2500 m, 2700 m above sea level.
The lakes are called the "pearl of the Northern Tien Shan". The lakes of the Tien Shan spruce are surrounded by lakes. The depth of the lakes reaches 50 m. Among the fauna - rainbow trout
It's not long to get to Lake Kolsay, 20 minutes - a good road, we stopped at the Ecopost, paid for entry (7 US dollars per car)
The lake really amazes with its scale and beauty.

DAY 4
The lake surprises with its size, 1000 meters long. We went on a hike to Kolsay Lake
After lunch we visited another UNIQUE Lake Kaindy (Sunken Forest) is located in a neighboring gorge.
The road in the mountain gorge, crossed the river 2 times, in some places the road is narrow and bumpy. We had a powerful car and it was even very interesting to test the properties of an SUV!
Lake Kaindy is not large, but it impresses with its beauty.
This place connects me with my favorite Job, I have been working as a guide for over 10 years and often visit Lake Kaindy.
I want to tell you: this is a place where you want to stay longer and do not want to leave it! A very peaceful place.
After a delicious lunch, we went to the Almaty City
